As the Advent season begins, we are invited into a sacred time of waiting, reflection, and preparation. At Huguenot Road Baptist Church, our theme this year is Preparing for Jesus, a call to ready our hearts for the arrival of Christ, not just as a historical event, but as a living reality in our daily lives. 

Each Sunday in our worship, we will experience the themes of Advent—Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. The sermons will come from the Gospel of Luke. Our series offers a roadmap to deepen our faith as we prepare for Jesus during this meaningful season: 

• Sunday of Hope – December 1: “Unhurrying Your Life” (Luke 21:25-36) encourages us to slow down and make room for God amidst the busyness of life. 

• Sunday of Peace – December 8: “Straight Paths and Open Hearts” (Luke 3:1-6) challenges us to align our lives with God’s call, preparing a straight path for Jesus in our hearts. 

• Sunday of Joy – December 15: “What Should We Do?” (Luke 3:7-18) explores how our response to Jesus’ coming transforms our daily actions and attitudes. 

• Sunday of Love – December 22: “Begin With the End in Mind” (Luke 1:39-55) invites us to embrace Mary’s song of faith and envision a world shaped by God’s love. 

Advent is more than lighting candles or singing carols—it’s about cultivating space for Christ to dwell within us. This year, we hope you’ll join us in worship, reflection, and celebration. Please invite a friend!
