On Valentine’s Day, our church sponsored a “Free Coffee Drive-Thru” as an outreach to the community. It was spearheaded by the Outreach Implementation Team as an opportunity to share God’s love with our neighbors. There are too many people to list, but I wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Vickie Felts and Sue Robertson, co-leaders of the Outreach Implementation Team. This was a true team effort, and I am thankful for the entire group of volunteers from HRBC who helped make it a wonderful success.

An effort like this required prayer, planning and teamwork. This is one example of how Christians are called to a common purpose: to spread the love of Jesus and to make disciples. God knows the seeds that were planted in the hearts of people through this effort. Perhaps the hot cup of coffee and sweet greeting from a church member gave someone a feeling of hope and value. I also think of someone who did not stop for coffee, but as they drove to work or school, they saw one of our volunteers waving with a joyful smile. Or, what if someone was driving to the hospital for tests or treatment? Or another person who felt overwhelmed or depressed? Just seeing Susan Coleman’s smile (see photo) could have made an incredible difference on Valentine’s Day!
Please pray for the people who were touched by this ministry and pray for future opportunities to share the love of Jesus with our community. We can make a difference, even if it’s a simple cup of coffee with a smile! Let us join together as the body of Christ to tell others about the life-changing love of Jesus!
In Christ’s care and service,
