Clean-Up Weekend April 2010
Clean-Up Weekend April 2010
Many thanks for the twenty-two folks who worked at Camp Alkulana on April 9 and 10. This experience is often inter-generational, however it was more so this year. We had little ones who worked with their parents, teenagers who worked independently, one person hanging off the roof by a rope and many others who did whatever was asked of them. During the afternoon on Friday and Saturday morning until 4 p.m. we accomplished the following: gutters hung on the new dining hall and retreat house; walk in refrigerator cleaned out, painted and food neatly put in the pantry; showers painted with at least four coats of paint (handprints included); lattice hung up around one cabin to cover up storage of lumber underneath; same lattice painted brown to blend in with surroundings; big lodge closed cleaned out of mouse "stuff"; athletic equipment straightened and balls blown up; a bridge put over the water walkway going from one side of camp to the other; grass cut in big field; infirmary cleaned and straightened; and much laughter and sharing with one another. This was the first mission trip for some of the folks, which was so exciting, and it is our thought that it will not be the last. Thank you everyone that went and worked and thank you HRBC for prayer support.
