It was our great joy to have hosted Larry and Sarah Ballew in worship this past Sunday, July 30th. They have served in Macau, China as Field Personnel (missionaries) with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship for the past 27 years. We have had a long-term partnership with them, and we have enjoyed their visits over the years when they have been back in the U.S.
They have recently sensed a clear move of God to conclude their service in Macau and will depart for a five-month sabbatical in England on August 2. During this time, they will be doing the work of discerning how and where they will serve the Lord in ministry. They are grateful for our prayers and look forward to continued opportunities of ministry alongside us here at HRBC.
Larry preached in worship on Sunday and his PowerPoint sermon notes are linked below. Larry shared some of the ways God has been at work in Macau and encouraged us to be God’s witnesses where we are planted. Here are a few ways that we can be encouraged as we serve at HRBC:
- Be open to new ways we can be witnesses for Jesus.
- Every day, be looking for ways Jesus is at work and remember that he is always doing something new.
- Pray for God to release new gifts in the body of Christ.
- Pray for new networks through the body of Christ and for new local partners in ministry.
- Pray for new conversations with people whom Jesus is raising up.
- Rejoice in what God is doing! We are a part, but God is doing it!
