Hallelujah!! The rest of the HRBC team arrived this afternoon. We are soooo happy to see them.
Before they arrived we worshiped with PSBC and the team from Missouri. There are 12 of them and they are a youth team with 3 adult chaperones. Greg, Molly, David Shea (who arrived yesterday) and I spent the day preparing for our team. We got all the food organized, rooms ready and had the red carpet rolled out!! Greg and David spent the entire afternoon cooking dinner. They used recipes we got at the New Orleans Cooking School and made a real Louisiana dinner for the team. We had gumbo, jumbalaya and bread pudding. Most all of us thoroughly enjoyed the local cuisine. However, I did spot a couple of ham sandwiches!
Everyone got settled into their luxury accommodations. You'll have to get the details from each one! We then met Pastor Lynn, and he took us on a tour of the new sanctuary building. He told us about details of the hurricane and gave us a lot of info about the people of Port Sulphur.
After our Louisiana dinner, we talked more details about our activities for the week. We have a lot of options --- plumbing, staining, mowing & yard work and tons of other odd jobs. We will also continue working with kids and teens in the evening. So far we only know a few things about tomorrow. First, chefs Greg and David are making a pancake and bacon breakfast to start our week. Second, it seems that Taylora and Terri have taken the dinner-making challenge. Taylora has stated that "we ain't seen nothing yet". Her and Terri have promised to beat the success of the Louisiana dinner. We'll let you know how that goes! And last, we'll begin a week of wonderful ministry in Port Sulphur.
Continue to keep us in your prayers, and look out for upcoming photos from our week.
