Bert Browning

Pastor

Bert has served as Senior Pastor at HRBC since 1995. He and his wife, Rose, are the parents of three grown daughters and have one grandchild. He holds a BA degree in English from the College of William and Mary, a Master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond. Dr. Browning has served on the boards of trustees of Hopetree Family Services, Virginia Baptist Homes, and Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. He is a past president of the Virginia Baptist Pastors' Conference and of the Baptist General Association of Virginia, and a former moderator of Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Virginia. He has pastored Virginia Baptist churches since 1976.

Phillip Brown

Associate Pastor for Music and Worship

Phillip has served with us since February 1992. He holds a B.M. in Church Music with a major in Voice and Conducting including a double minor in Organ and Piano from the East Carolina University, and a M.C.M. in Conducting and Voice with studies in Youth Ministry from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Having served in six different churches and on a church staff continuously since age 15, and having taught music and missions in seven countries worldwide, Phillip brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to worship planning and leadership. God has certainly used him to grow and expand our music ministry. We have seen growth in the addition of youth and children's choirs, the HRBC Festival Orchestra, vocal and instrumental ensembles, praise team and a wide variety of musical productions. Whether he is composing, conducting, leading, singing or playing, it is exciting to be a part of this ever-changing ministry!

Melissa Fallen

Associate Pastor for Older Adults and Administration

Melissa joined the HRBC staff in July 2005. She is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington with a B.A. in Economics. She holds an M.Div. degree from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond where she is currently pursuing a D.Min. Melissa is excited and passionate about working with the older adult population.  She also has a heart for missions and finding ways to engage God's people in the work of building the kingdom.  Melissa also enjoys volunteering as a chaplain for the Chesterfield County Police Department. In her free time, Melissa enjoys spending time outdoors watching sports from little league to major league.

Jonathan Greenhill

Associate Pastor for Youth and College Age Ministries

Jonathan (Jon) joined the HRBC staff in May 2008. He is originally from Durham, NC. He received a degree in Computer Information Systems from Appalachian State University.  He loves to work with teenagers and college aged students and is eager to help them learn how God can impact their lives.

Matthew Hensley

Associate Pastor for Discipleship and Missions

Matthew joined the HRBC staff in August 2011. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications. He holds an M.Div. degree with concentration in Christian Education from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. Matthew desires to see each person recognize and respond to God’s call to follow Him both inwardly in relationship and outwardly as a witness to God’s transforming power. Matthew’s passion is helping people recognize where God is at work in the world and empowering them to join God’s Mission. In his free time Matthew enjoys music, running, and SEC football. He and his wife, Beth, are parents of three young children.

Amanda Lott

Associate Pastor for Children's Ministries

Amanda joined our staff in March of 2008, and brings considerable experience and passion to her position. Before moving to Richmond, Amanda served churches in Cedar Park, TX and Abingdon, VA. She received her B.S. in education in 1992 from Auburn University at Montgomery, AL. Amanda enjoys consulting with local churches through her association with Virginia Baptists. She also enjoys reading children's books, cooking, and learning how to be a better knitter! Amanda and her husband, Craig, have three daughters, Valerie, Catie, and Sarah Grace.
