Bert is our Senior Pastor. He came to HRBC in 1995 and his humble leadership and gifted preaching continue to guide us. He holds a B.A. in English from the College of William and Mary, a M.Div. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a D.Min. from Union Theological Seminary. Dr. Browning has served on the Board of Trustees for the Virginia Baptist Children's Home and Family Services, President of the Virginia Baptist Pastors' Conference, and President of the Baptist General Association of Virginia. He and his wife, Rose, have three daughters: Emily, Ashley, and Amanda. 

Associate Pastor for Music and Worship

Phillip has served with us since February 1992. God has certainly used him to expand our music ministry. We have seen growth in the addition of youth and children's choirs, a 35-piece orchestra, vocal and instrumental ensembles, praise teams and a wide variety of musical   productions. It is exciting to be a part of this ever-changing ministry!

Melissa Fallen joined the HRBC staff in July 2005. She is a graduate of Mary Washington College with a B.A. in Economics. She holds a M.Div. degree from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. Melissa is excited and passionate about working with the older adult population.  Melissa also enjoys volunteering as a chaplain for CJW Medical Centers and the Chesterfield County Police Department.

Jonathan (Jon) joined the HRBC staff in May 2008. He is originally from Durham, NC. He received a degree in Computer Information Systems from Appalachian State University.  He loves to work with teenagers and college aged students and is eager to help them learn how God can impact their lives.

Associate Pastor for Education and Discipleship

Terry has been our Associate Pastor for Education and Discipleship since 1990. Terry holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Alabama and a M.Div. in Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He served as an adjunctive faculty member at Baptist Theological Seminary and was named Virginia’s Distinguished Christian Educator of the Year in Nov. 2000. He and his wife, Joan, have 2 children: Anna and Andrew.

Associate Pastor for Children's Ministries

Amanda brings considerable experience, expertise and passion to the position. She worked for two years in the St. John Child Development Center in Abingdon, Virginia. Concurrently, she worked for seven years as Minister to Children at Abingdon Baptist Church. Amanda worked for a number of years as a consultant and leader with the Virginia Baptist Mission Board's Children’s Ministry Strategist.  Previously, she served as Minister to Children at New Hope 1st Baptist Church in Cedar Park, Texas. In 1992, Amanda graduated from Auburn University in Montgomery, Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, in Secondary Education.  Amanda and her husband, Craig, have three daughters, Valerie, Catie and Sarah Grace.
