Two Thoughts on Pentecost:

Pentecost is more than a noun: We are pentecostal.

Spirit-filled

Spirit-led

The Church is the mission of God: We are missional.

Worship without the church = attractional programs

Worship without the world = a Christian club

Worship without the Spirit = a production

Application: As missional people, worship sustains us.  Perhaps the local church is a refilling station.

Christ’s Love:

·        The visible evidence of God’s love.

·        OT -- chashaq implies a love that is bound or attached to someone.

·        NT -- agape expresses chashaq.

·        Love explains why Jesus came: to give everything of himself to us.

Because of Christ’s love for us:

1.   We are compelled to do the right thing (passion).

2.   We cannot “not” do something.

3.   We are drawn into a deeper commitment to God.
