Seeing the Invisible

Lukas wanted to blog a minute about something that God laid on his heart during a seminar. Check it out.

Each day there are about ten or so seminars to choose from, and I chose one on the “Invisible Children”. This seminar is about homeless, poverty ridden, diseased infested, and the war ravaged land of Uganda, Africa. The “Invisible Children” themselves are the ones that are kidnapped and forced to fight at the ages of 6 and 7 years old for the rebel army. I learned about the “Schools 4 Schools” program over there that raises money in the states to be put towards the education and the welfare of the native girls and boys. After watching just one of the many DVDs made about the life that these kids in Uganda go through, I have made a commitment to create a club at my high school (Midlothian High) along with Molly, Jamie, and Allison to pursue  the goal of raising money to directly go towards the Schools 4 Schools program. As the president of this club, I will be giving my all for it, so that I may change worlds for the lives of so many in need. I also want to look into getting a trip planned oversees to directly interact with the people there and see for myself not only other ways to help but to also open up my eyes to just how lucky I am for what I have. I have always wanted to be a part of something greater than myself, and this is just screaming in my face: OPPORTUNITY!!!  I have never been so sure of a decision and I plan to make this happen.

Invisible Children is an awesome group dedicated to helping free the war slaves of Northern Uganda. You can learn more about them here. www.invisiblechildren.com.
