In July 2010, Huguenot Road Baptist Church voted to establish a Facilities Development Team to determine the church’s facilities needs and to manage the construction that would follow. On May 1, 2011, HRBC voted to enter into a fund raising campaign for new and renovated construction with the provision that construction would not begin until one-third of the estimated cost was in-hand.
Throughout the fall of 2011, we entered into the It’s Time capital campaign and in December 2011 we raised $543,000 during the first month of the “First Fruits” portion of our campaign. By January 1, 2012, we received pledges totaling $1,267,000 to be given by December 31, 2014.
At the end of the regular campaign on December 31, 2014, you had given more than $1,576,000 to the It’s Time campaign. You have continued to give and with Easter Sunday’s offering our gifts totaled to $1,600,682. Finally, we did it! Contributions have continued and by mid-April they approached $1,610,000.
At this time, our loan balance is $1,588,392.97. Contributions received by July 31, 2015, will be used to reduce the loan balance. In August, we will begin making monthly principal and interest payments on the loan. Currently, we are only paying interest on the loan amount.
What we do with our gifts to the It’s Time campaign between now and July 31 is going to play a very significant role in our operating budgets for the next ten years. One of the best investments that you can make in the next three months is to contribute to the It’s Time campaign. Every dollar contributed now will reduce our total obligation by $1.28.
