We have listened to you through the initial “Hopes and Concerns” survey as well as around the tables at the Thanksgiving service. Thank you for your participation as it has served as our guide as to the direction we are going. We also have been attempting to listen prayerfully to the nudgings of the Holy Spirit. Why do we exist as a church? What is God’s unique call for HRBC? When it comes time to establish the Pastor Search Committee, having a clear and concise answer to these questions will assist us in identifying the leader God has in store for us.
We are happy to announce that, based on what you have told us through the survey and the round table discussions, we have a draft of a purpose statement to share with you. This statement of purpose is what we define to encapsulate what our church is and aspires to be going forward. We want to hear from you regarding how this statement feels and sounds. If it feels “right,” what would it look like for us to begin living it out? What would this purpose look like for you individually?
With that in mind, we invite you to attend one of several listening sessions that we have scheduled. These sessions will be built around small groups where sharing can be both easy and relevant.
We will have sign up sheets in the narthex on Sunday, January 19 and 26, or simply call the church office to let us know when you plan to attend. Signing up is NOT mandatory but will be helpful to us in our planning. We want you to come!
The listening session times are as follows:
· Sunday, February 2 and 9, during the Sunday School hour in the sanctuary. (NOTE: A TT member will lead your whole Sunday School class in your room. If your class wants to do this, contact the church office to set it up.)
· Tuesday, February 4, 7:00 pm in the sanctuary parlor
· Wednesday, February 5, 6:15 pm in Room #301
· Sunday, February 9, 3:00 pm in Room #301
We are excited and energized to be ready to move forward with this! Please make plans to attend.
