We are excited to be able to grow and expand The Clinic this year. Because our campus is in transition due to our construction project, Central Baptist Church has volunteered the use of their facilities for The Clinic. Huguenot Road Baptist members will continue to coordinate and lead this year’s clinic. We anticipate members from Central Baptist stepping forward to assist us as volunteer advocates and in other key rolls. In 2014, Central Baptist plans to come to our campus to observe how we operate The Clinic and following that we anticipate both churches holding The Clinic each year, one in the Spring and one in the Fall.
This year The Clinic will be held on September 21, 10 am – 2 pm, as we turn Central Baptist into The Clinic to those in our community seeking food, clothing, medical care, dental care, vision checks, haircuts, a place to feel welcome and a day to get some extra attention. Jesus set the example by meeting the physical needs of those around him; however, he didn’t stop there. He also saw and addressed their emotional and spiritual needs. At The Clinic, we do the same things.
As they arrive, each family is given an advocate who will walk with them during their time at The Clinic. The physical needs are determined and met. As conversation continues, advocates have the opportunity to share Christ’s love through encouragement, joy, prayer and hope. We always need more advocates than anticipated and invite all high school youth through adults to consider serving in this role. Contact Richard Martin to volunteer. Being an advocate requires no experience as training is provided. Choose one convenient training opportunity: September 15 at 12:30 pm at Central Baptist or September 18 at 7:30 pm at HRBC. Please choose a training session that is not during your regular worship or rehearsal time. It is recommended advocates choose to train at Central Baptist so that you will be able to get acclimated to the church surroundings.
