Touched Thrice in Owsley

A team of six representing HRBC was on mission in Owsley County, October 13 – 19, 2013.  They shared Christ’s love with the residents of the county in many ways during the week.  Here are three examples.

The construction team installed a new floor for a family whose father and husband died last year in an accident.  The grandmother works at Owsley Elementary school and the education team had the opportunity to have some good conversations with her.

Sheila Hage and Randy Camden, representing the education team, did an excellent job with small groups of boys and girls, pulled from the classroom we sponsor, on sensitive subjects.  They also worked with two entire classrooms on other topics like problem solving, gratitude and how to handle conflict.

The entire team of six helped serve the school staff of 80 a warm breakfast of bacon and eggs that was so well-received, the school superintendent even stopped by!   While we were there, Tom Kanna recognized a little girl walking down the hall from our summer VBS.  They got a chance to re-connect, and that was a big blessing, especially for her.

During the breakfast, our education team had the privilege of presenting the OCES Teachers and Staff with a dramatic flower arrangement to show our appreciation to them, created by Char Vaughan, AND a large check made out to OCES from our own VBS offerings this summer.

Jason Naggles, Tom Kanna, Alan Fowler, Randy Camden, Sheila Hage and Terri Shea are thrilled to say the seeds planted here by HRBC are sprouting, turning into plants, and we hope you'll help continue to water them with God's love next year.   Please consider being a part of this mission in 2014.    You'll be so glad you did!
