Prepare: Find a quiet place where you can be alone. Try to find a place where there are limited interruptions so that you can openly go before God. If you need to, grab a pen and a notebook to write down thoughts that come to your mind throughout the experience.
Use this sentence scripture prayer to center you: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10)
Read: Today’s passage is Psalm 63:1-8. Read it through regularly first. Read it again slowly going word by word. Write down anything that stands out to you or is interesting.
Meditate: How did you respond to today’s text? Did you identify with it? Did you feel distant from it? Does the Psalmist’ desire match your desire for God? Why/why not? If yes, take a moment to write your own Psalm to God similar to this one. If not, what might be keeping you from knowing God in this way? Write down these thoughts.
Pray: Take a few moments to pray over this word. If you wrote your own Psalm, pray it as an offering to God. If not, pray this Psalm as a prayer to God. Ask God to reveal the things in your life that are keeping you from growing in Him.
