Lent Devotion - Friday

Friday, March 4

Prepare: Find a quiet place where you can be alone. Try to find a place where there are limited interruptions so that you can openly go before God. If you need to, grab a pen and a notebook to write down thoughts that come to your mind throughout the experience.

Use this sentence scripture prayer to center you: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:10)

Read:  Today’s passage is Luke 13:1-9.  Read it through regularly first. Read it again slowly going word by word. Write down anything that stands out to you or is interesting.

Meditate: Write down the things in this passage that stuck out to you. Why do you think that Jesus told this parable? What truth was he trying to communicate? How do you feel when you read this passage? How do you about feel going to God after reading it?

Pray:  Take a look at the past couple of days writings. Examine the things that you have written that might be getting in the way of your relationship with God. If there are specific things, offer them up to God and begin the process of repenting of them. Pray that God would help clear your heart of the clutter that keeps you from Him. Pray that God would begin to change your heart so that your desire for Him may return in full force.
