It’s time, HRBC family, to act on what we have talked about and prayed about for years.
- It’s time to renovate and update our facilities so that they are accessible, flexible, useable and welcoming to the fullest extent.
- It’s time to reconfigure old space and to make modest additions of new space, to accommodate our needs for outreach, community service and spiritual growth.
- It’s time for us to make room in our buildings to grow numerically beyond the 400 barrier. We have hit this barrier in Sunday School attendance again and again over many years, because that is the functional capacity of our existing education space.
- It’s time for a fresh look, for handicap facilities, for safer access to all the buildings, and for space that complements our mission, ministries and fellowship.
Our mission is not to build buildings, but adequate facilities are an essential part of providing a base for worship, outreach, fellowship, equipping and discipleship. Our facilities also serve the community as a gathering point for weddings, funerals, baccalaureates, Upward Basketball, support group and nonprofit group meetings, Boy Scouts, and many other gatherings.
It costs money to make these plans a reality. From late October through mid-December 2011, we engaged in an intensive campaign to secure funds and pledges to finance the project, which will cost in excess of $2 million. We are pleased to report that in December 2011, we received over $540,000 in initial gifts to this campaign!
The work, however, is far from complete. Over the next three years, we will continue in an intensive campaign to secure the funds for the construction ahead of us. When the church receives $800,000, we will begin construction on this project. Continue to pray for the work ahead of us!
