Welcome to the Huguenot Road Baptist Church Missions Devotion Guide. In the next two weeks, you will read and hear many stories of God’s work among us. These stories both written and via video are meant to allow you to reflect on our missional heritage and prepare you for our Heritage Day celebration on June 12. Many of the mission partners mentioned in these posts will be present that day to share their stories with us.
If you are signed up to receive "missions" or "news" from the HRBC email list, you will receive these updates daily in your in box. As you read and/or listen to each testimony, we invite you to reflect on the following questions:
What is the “mission” this person was involved in?
How did this person use his/her gifts to accomplish their mission?
What is my missions story and who I can I share it with?
What gifts do I have and how can I use those to serve?
How can my family, my Sunday School class, or my small group work together be faithful to God’s calling our lives?
Our missions strategy is built around Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Think about this verse over these two weeks and think about what faithfulness to that means for us individually and collectively. Then, plan to be present on June 12 as we share our reflections together and hear from one another.
You will find the schedule for Heritage Day below, so plan now for you and your family to be present for this time of learning about, growing, and celebrating God’s work!
9:30 Coffee and donuts in the courtyard under a tent
9:45 Brief introductory words for the day
10:00 Sunday School throughout the building with missionaries present to share their stories. Each person will choose from a mission “track” and have an opportunity to hear from three different ministry areas (i.e. Church Hill Baptist Center, Owsley County, Camp Alkulana, etc.).
11:15 Worship celebration
12:30 Covered dish luncheon with missionaries present to have more informal conversation.
So, let’s give thanks, celebrate, and look forward to what God will continue to do among us! See you on June 12! Here's a video just to get you started!
