A Gift of Love
Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.
Children are a great joy in my life. I love working with our King’s Kids Choirs and our VBS classes. There we get to teach them about music, about what the words mean and how to use them to worship God. And then, we get to sing! I have been blessed to be able to write (Compose) music specifically for our children and I love to hear their young voices singing those praises of God – to God. For me, that is holy ground. God’s most precious children, bringing joy to His heart in song. This Christmas, God has given me the gift of a new song, “On This Christmas Night” for our children to sing. I am very excited for them to sing about Shepherds and Angels, and for them to discover the Christ Child in the manger and then to tell the world about Jesus! Noel! Jesus is born, Noel!
Even though I will never be famous like Phillips Brooks who wrote songs like “O Little Town of Bethlehem” for the children of his church in the 1800’s, you can rest assured that it is with the Love of Christ that I write for our King’s Kids right here at HRBC. And for all of our King’s Kids in United Praise and the Chancel Choir and beyond. And I hope by good measure, that someday when I reach my final home, that something could be said of me as one of the children did when they learned from their mother that their beloved Pastor Phillips Brooks had passed away “Oh, Mama, how happy the Angels will be!”
In this Advent season, let us lift our voices in praise of the one who gave us a reason to sing, and a song with which to proclaim His glory!
